Shakeela has been a Medical Herbalist for 18 years. She was initially inspired to train due to her own healing experience as a child when The 'Gerson Therapy' enabled her to recover from Leukaemia and Sarcoma as a child.
She has taught herbal medicine to both adults and children over the years - and developed the very popular " Potions Club" at Islington Ecology Centre- an after-school club for children.
In August 2007, she became seriously ill - she had metastasised cervical cancer which had gone to the ovaries and brain, a partially collapsed lung, a deep-vein thrombosis and a brain haemorrhage.
She declined orthodox medicine, knowing that it was her journey to heal herself.
By June 08, she had released all of the cancer from her body and was feeling very well.
In order to heal, Shakeela was forced to "walk her talk" and although at the time, she thought she would never be, she is now infact deeply grateful for this opportunity of learning.
Her healing journey brought with it profound insights about how we create our own reality and indeed our health.
She now lives and indeed practices in a very different way from before she became sick. She is delighted to share her insights with other herbalists.
